Abstract
Chopped carbon fiber tape-reinforced thermoplastic (CTT) is characterized by excellent moldability. Conventional molding is a manufacturing method in which cut tapes are dispersed in the air or water and laminated. Therefore, it is impossible to manufacture a test specimen by controlling the fiber orientation. As a result, the specimens had anisotropic fiber orientation and various mechanical properties. Therefore, in the mechanical property test of CTT, it is necessary to evaluate variations. However, it is inefficient to clarify the relationship between the laminated structure, mechanical properties, failure mode, and fatigue property evaluation that clarify the essence of CTT design. Therefore, ICC research has developed an automatic tape stacking robot and realized tape stacking by the program. In this paper, as a basic study of lamination design for producing completely random specimens with isotropic physical properties, which could not be produced until now, specimens with reduced mechanical property variations were examined by examining the region size and repetition of the tape lamination pattern.
