Abstract
Our developed accelerated testing methodology (ATM) based on matrix resin viscoelasticity was applied to statistical prediction of long-term flexural creep failure times for unidirectional CFRP laminates exposed to several water absorption conditions. First, under dry, wet and wet+dry conditions CFRP laminates of three kinds were prepared by water absorption and redrying after water absorption. Second, the statistical creep failure times of CFRP laminates under these three conditions were predicted by substituting the matrix resin viscoelasticity and the flexural static strengths of CFRP laminates that were measured statistically at various temperatures into the ATM formulation. The effects of water absorption on long-term creep failure times of CFRP laminates under bending loading were examined.
