Model-based development (MBD) is an effective method for both reducing development costs and improving performance, and it is being applied in the development field, as exemplified by the development of the SKYACTIV engine. However, the application of MBD has been challenging in the areas of Steering, Handling and Ride comfort. The reasons for this are (1) It is difficult to handle the human factor in judging the quality of Steering, Handling and Ride comfort, and (2) The target "mechanical" systems themselves are diverse, and their system characteristics interact complexly with Steering, Handling and Ride comfort performance, making the mechanisms intricate. In this paper, we report the results of the application of MBD to the mass production development of Steering, Handling and Ride comfort by focusing on the "mechanical" aspects after separating "human" and "machine" factors.
