Abstract
Specified municipal solid waste and specified industrial waste (radioactive Cesium of 8000 Bq/kg or less) have been disposed of in many landfill sites in Eastern Japan. In Fukushima Prefecture, cement-solidification and landfill facilities were constructed. Specified waste (designated waste and waste within the countermeasure area) has been treated and landfilled after incineration. This paper describes the current situation of these facilities. Specifically, the scientific bases of radioactive Cesium leaching behavior in the landfill sites, landfilling methods, and the cement-solidifying techniques. This paper is a record of one research out of many. These projects were executed in order to formulate the policy of the Japanese government following the accident.
