Abstract

Kaken Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a medium-sized domestic company with its origin in Riken, has contributed to the society by providing unique products and has been steadily rising over many years. Although the environment surrounding the pharmaceutical industry is becoming stringent, we continue to nurture our strengths and at the same time attempt to fulfill unmet medical requirements. Moreover, we increase the pace and frequency of drug development by collaborating with other companies and academic institutions. The pharmaceutical industry has been recognized as a knowledge-based industry for a long time; however, the bottom line is that it depends on an individual’s ability. The effectiveness of all measures and policies varies depending on an individual’s ability. In contrast, it takes a long time to develop a new drug, and yet, the success probability is by no means satisfactory. Because Kaken Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a medium-sized company and cannot afford to do a lot of things, we have to show foresight and gustiness to see the future.
