The author went abroad since 1990s, doing research activities in an American post-graduate university followed by pharmaceutical R&D institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom. Valuable experiences through meeting with numbers of people and conducting research have proven useful for the current work. The author hopes young researchers in Japan leading pharmaceutical research in the future will be able to regard the possibilities and benefits of working abroad.
