Abstract

Tabanus yanbaruensis, a new species, is described based on the female materials from Okinawa Island, Japan. This species is closely related to Tabanus ryukyuensis (Murdoch and Takahasi), but can be easily distinguished from it by the blackish abdomen with whitish median markings, conspicuously smoky wings, broader frontal callus, and black palpi and legs.
