Abstract

The first field trial of Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) against the Japanese blackfly larvae was carried out in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan. Bti formulation used was SAN 402 I of Sandoz Inc., which contained 2-3×(10)^<10> spores/mg. Four streams were differently treated with Bti. When the same dosage was applied, the longer carry of Bti would be obtained by the longer application time. The concentration of 10ppm for 10 minutes was efficient and recommended for a practical blackfly control.
