A new species of Ficalbia was found in the 1978 mosquito collections from Iriomote Island of Okinawa, Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. The genus is the first record from Japan. Three males easily distinguished from all known species of the genus by maxillary palpus and IX tergum of genitalia are described and illustrated in detail.
