Abstract

We confirmed that Tanbara Wetland is a new collecting place for Hybomitra tarandina (Linné, 1758), which is situated in Numata, Gunma Prefecture on Honshu Island, Japan. It is the second record for H. tarandina on Honshu Island. By referring to records hitherto known in Japan, it revealed some ecological features to this species. Despite this fly distributing widely throughout the northern parts of the Eurasia continent, individuals had yet to be collected in Japan except for Hokkaido and Oze, Gunma.
