Introduction to biostatistics ─Its history and contribution to medical science─

Abstract

This article introduces “Biostatistics” as a discipline, which is still unfamiliar to Japanese people because there are few universities that offer a degree in biostatistics in Japan. To avoid being a technical document or a chapter in a common textbook for school students, its history and contribution to medical science are the main focus of this article.
