Abstract
The elastic hinge mechanism has been widely applied for fine positioning mechanism because it has an ability to be precise behavior by the simple and integral structure. The circular hinge which has a small rotation function in that mechanism has two faults. One is that the fatigue fracture is easily generated by the stress concentration. The other is that elasticity domain is too narrow. We present a new type circular hinge: Wider range hinges having a elongate linear part which has strong fatigue structure and has wide range elastic domain. We have constructed a 3-D Wide range arc hinge mechanism and using this mechanism we also have manufactured 5μm, 3μm and 1μm rules on the aluminum plate.
