Abstract
Liquid crystal devices are one of the suitable devices for spatial light modulators since their half-wave voltage is only a few volts and they can be driven by CMOS ICs directly. In this paper, we will present the liquid crystal active optics with segmented ITO patterns. Each segment is connected with a high resistive ITO, so that voltage distributions which cause phase distributions can be generated by 3-terminal inputs. We also present the application to optical pickups to compensate optical aberrations dynamically. These devices are now on the market.
