In this review article, current status and perspective of abdominal MRI are presented, focused on Gd-EOB-DTPA enhanced MRI for high risk nodules in cirrhotic livers, portal flow MR imaging using non-contrast-enhanced MR angiography, and functional MR imaging in the pancreas and the kidney using time-spatial labeling inversion pulse in the clinical practice. Various kinds of functional and flow MR imaging can provide new diagnostic information which were not able to be obtained by conventional imaging techniques based on morphology. Development of the image analysis software will be indispensable for the wide spread in the future.
