Abstract

Aftre the radium was detected by Maria & Pierre Curie in 1898, the first sample of radium was imported to Japan by Prof. Aikitsu Tanakadate in 1903. The medical use of radium was spread to various clinical fields at the beginning of 20th century in Japan. After the big radium sample (5g) was installed at Cancer Institute Tokyo in 1934, radiation physics researches using the radium were further developed.
