Abstract

This paper describes pre- and Intra-operative diagnosis and therapeutic assistance system based on multidisciplinary computational anatomical models. Multidisciplinary computational anatomy (MCA) is new research field that analyzes anatomical structures along the spatial, the time, the pathological and the functional axes, and is applied to them to solve clinical problems. Our research group has been working on constructing medical diagnostic and therapeutic assistance systems based on MCA models. Micro anatomical structure analysis has been performed in this research area. Furthermore, endoscopic procedure systems including super-magnified colonoscopic examination, and laparoscopic surgery have been developed. Some of these systems were approved as medical devices. This paper introduces our research activities in the MCA project and related projects. Also we will review the MCA project and show some perspectives on this field,
