In this review, we will introduce some of the results of the research on the development of "organ/tissue function diagnosis support system using multidisciplinary computational anatomy models," which was conducted for about 5 years from FY2014 as one of the planning groups under the project named "Multidisciplinary Computational Anatomy and its Application to Highly Intelligent Diagnosis and Therapy" (MCA: multidisciplinary computational anatomy in short). This project was founded by MEXT Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas. First, 1) automatic detection/segmentation/registration of multiple organs/tissues in multi-dimensional images will be explained, then 2) evaluation of tumor area in whole-body FDG-PET/CT images and cerebral blood flow image analysis, 3) developments of lung cancer diagnosis support technology using PET/CT images and pathological images, and 4) model-based muscle recognition for functional analysis of skeletal muscle are also described. Finally, 5) other related topics are also touched upon.
