Basics of SPECT (3): Application of SPECT

Abstract

This article outlines the clinical application of SPECT as the final of the three series of "Basics of SPECT". First, I explain the significance of SPECT in the clinical nuclear medicine, comparing SPECT with scintigraphy and PET. Then, I present all more than 30 kinds of clinical applications of scintigraphy and SPECT, since some of them are not known well. Finally, for the future perspective of SPECT, I estimate some that may be replaced by PET, and provide the concept of nuclear theranostics.
