Abstract
Spherical carbonate concretions were identified in the Hornfels-formed Tertiary sedimentary formation at an elevation of approximately 1350 m on Mt.Ōkueyama, located near the border between northern Miyazaki Prefecture and Ōita Prefecture. The occurrence site is a sedimentary layer covering the roof of a granite batholith, and the strata containing the concretions had been altered by heat. This is the first report presentings the results of various analyses conducted on Mt.Ōkueyama concretions.
