Abstract

This study proposes liquid-crystal (LC) lenses that are adaptive to oblique incidence to achieve planar microtracking concentration for sunlight. In particular, we designed the LC alignment and device structure for oblique incidence. Numerical simulations and experiments were conducted to analyze the diffracted light. The obtained results confirm that the designed device structure focused the light along a single plane.
