From the excreta of male Wistar rats intubated intragastrically with 3'-hydroxy HT-2 toxin and T-2 tetraol, such deepoxydation (termed “depoxydation”) products as 3'-hydroxy-depoxy HT-2 toxin, 3'-hydroxy-depoxy T-2 triol and depoxy T-2 tetraol were isolated, and their structures were confirmed by GC-MS and NMR. In addition to these metabolites, depoxy HT-2 toxin and 15-acetyl-depoxy T-2 tetraol were obtained from the mixedculture of mice intestinal flora under anaerobic condition. This microbial depoxydation by intestinal flora seemed to be one of the detoxification of trichothecenes in vivo.
