Abstract
Time-dependent multidimensional solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations were used to study the processes leading tothe transition from a deflagration to a detonation in an energetic reactive gas mixture. This paper describes selected phenomenaobserved in the simulations and relates these to the development of hot spots (ignition centers) and spontaneousreaction waves arising in gradients of reactivity.
