Abstract

Available soil nitrogen is an important indicator to understand the soil fertility of upland fields. Visualization of the fertilization effect of available soil nitrogen is essential for planning the appropriate fertilization. Soil type and soil temperature are required to visualize of the fertilization effect of available nitrogen. These soil data can be searched from the digital soil map, which is stored in the Japanese Soil Inventory system. The visualization application tool for the fertilization effect of available soil nitrogen in the Japanese Soil Inventory system can calculate the fertilization effect using the input data of the test site location, standard fertilizer recommendation rate, and the content of available soil nitrogen. Using this application, we are in the process of conducting a demonstration test of appropriate fertilizer application by visualizing the fertilizer effect of available soil nitrogen in collaboration with public research institutes in 13 prefectures across the country.
