Abstract
SynopsisThe application of organic-inorganic hybridized benzoxazine as the binder to brake friction material was examined.Organic-inorganic hybridized benzoxazines were prepared from p-aminophenol type benzoxazine and polyphenylsiloxane(5, 10, and 20wt%) synthesized from phenyltriethoxysilane using sol-gel process. Heat resistance of hybrid materials was improved with increasing the polyphenylsiloxane content. The friction characteristics of the hybrid brake friction materials were examined by 1/10 scale brake dynamometer. There was no signifi cant difference in friction coeffi cient among them. The hybrid friction material with 5wt% of polyphenylsiloxane decreased wear of friction materials, which was attributed to the increased strength of the transfer layer formed on the surface of the friction material.
