Abstract
The replacement of metals with plastics in the automotive industry is being accelerated for the weight reduction and lowering the cost of cars. In this field, the demand of glass reinforced phenolic molding compounds is increasing remarkably. Automotive parts require long time reliability under severe conditions. These parts, made form the glass reinforced phenolic molding compounds, actually have good performances such as superior heat resistance, mechanical strength, dimensional stability, resistance to automotive fluids, and so on.
Such the properties of these materials as fragility, abrasion snd thermal conductivity, on the other hand, have to be improved. In conclusion, the use of glass reinforced phenolic molding compounds for automotive applications will be extended by the improvement and addition of several characteristics.
