Abstract
The heat of immersion of cellulose substance into various solvents and phenolic compounds was measured with Thermal Conductor Calorimeter (TCC), and the relationship between the heat of immersion and impregnation phenomena was discussed.
As a result, it was found that the TCC method is useful to investigate the impregnation step in the production of a composite of a cellulose substance with a phenolic resin.
It suggests that the appropriate impregnation is obtained with water or methyl alcohol as a solvent, m-cresol as the most suitable phenolic compound and cellulose substance whose water content is minimal.
