Abstract
This paper reviews recent studies on carbon nanotube (CNT) /epoxy resin composites for clarifying their advantages in various properties, including mechanical, thermal, and electrical ones. The degree of property improvement by the CNT addition is summarized for each property and listed in Table along with the combination of CNT, epoxy resin, and curing agent, which plays a major role in determining the performance properties of CNT/epoxy resin composites. Data of mechanical properties, including tensile, flexural, and impact ones, are cited from a dozen of literatures and plotted in Figure for each property in order to understand the relationship between the property and the quantity of CNT addition. The CNT/epoxy resin composites were found to have various notable features from the standpoint of actual application of these nanocomposites.
