Abstract

Considering the prospects of patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to avail the services of robots, research aiming to support these patients using humanoid robots has been initiated worldwide. Per user preferences, the clothes and hairstyles of the robot should be altered as well as the voice, length of sentences, and talking speed to support patients in cases of the same robot being used. Various factors, including age, sex, and intelligence quotient, may contribute to these preferences. Research involving self-disclosure promotion, special education, and support for job interview training has already been initiated. Further development in this field is expected for providing effective support to individuals with ASD.
