Abstract
Gas flow characteristics in scale region of 2-4nm and 4-6nm channels were studied experimentally. These nano channels are obtained from monolithic nano porous anodic aluminum oxide membranes, characterized by very uniform pores were implemented. The gas permeation of N2, Ar, He, CO2 and R-134a, R124 were measured in the temperature range of -40 to 40 C, since the interaction between gas molecules and channel surface becomes significant under these conditions. The permeability observations revealed that the transport is predominantly governed by rarefied gas flow except R-134a and R124. The flow characteristics of these Freon gases represented neither rarefied gas flow nor mixed flow mode described by previous researchers. Especially, these condensate gases permeability increase considerably near their boiling points.
