New Trend of Digital Printing Technology

Abstract

Since 1990s, we have seen a rapid digitalization in print industry. Digitalization of prepress field began from emergence of DTP, and finished by commonization of CTP.During this period, the market circumstance surrounding print industry has changed.Shorter run of printing has been increasing with diversification of consumer needs by IT, and rising of environmental awareness. While conventional offset printing is suitable for mass-production, digital printing technologies attract huge attention through adapting market circumstance and complement of conventional offset printing technology. We will review the trend and challenge of printing industry⁄digital printing, and introduce our FUJIFILM's solutions in this paper.
