When Tsubouchi Shoyo wrote Shosetsu Shinzui(the essence of novels), did the genre of political novels come to an end without discovering its unique expressions? I discuss a new type of expression which began at the end of Jiyii Minken Movement. This type of expression, in which, I believe, political novels survived, must be different from the modern novels illustrated in Shosetsu Shinzui.
