Genji Monogatari has a complicated structure with multi-viewpoints and multi-strata. It takes the form of a group of stories in the style of narratives handed down through the plural stages by the plural narrators. This particular style was demanded because the content is closely related to the disorder of the royal family. By taking the style of multi-viewpoints and multi-strata, the most silrious part of the story is told indirectly and suggestively.
