Abstract

Kobayashi Takiji's Higashi Kutchan Ko has been appreciated as a work like a "reportage", The narrator has two faces; one, "I" who observes, two,"I" who acts. The work is based on the equilibrium of the exchange and the copermeation between these two "I"s. Takiji's descriptions of nature, which are highly appreciated, are backed up by an accuracy, ofj tecnique. The descriptions, demonstrate their realities. The narrator, who graduallyloses his equilibrium, proves how big a problem the author had to confront during this period.
