In the middle of "affluence," we are losing touch with the basic feelings of our every day life. Secluded in the school system, the youth live their abstracted "life" driven by time. As a result, they have become incapable of asking such basic questions of life as "what for?" and "how?" Relying on the comments made in Hitamuki ni Ikiru (Living Earnestly) by Hisae Sawachi, I will point out young people's responses-whether opposition or agreement-to the adult opinions and search for the solutions concerning the present situation.
