Literary education should be considered according to the following four aspects. First, what should be taught. Second, what materials should be used. Third, what kind of program should be organized. Fourth, how the learner learns. The class must be conducted under the interactive influences of these four aspects. Until now, the first three aspects have been mainly discussed, with little attention to the fourth. In my paper, I propose a model of the learner in literary education from the viewpoint of how the learner chooses the literary material.
