Structures of Glyceryl Ether and Sterol Peroxides from Aplysia Egg Laying

Abstract

The acetone extract of fresh egg laying of Aplysia Kurodai was investigated first for the purpose of clarifying biologically active constituents. Two compounds, relatively predominant in the extract, were isolated. Their structures were established as chimyl alcohol (d-α-glyceryl hexadecyl ether) [1], mp 57°C, [α]_D +8.9°, and 5α, 8 α-epidioxycholest-6-en-3 β-ol [2], mp 153-154°C, [α]_D - 5.8°.
