Abstract

In order to evaluate the user–friendliness of a sink in an "island–type" system–kitchen which allows access from both sides, a survey employing usability evaluations was undertaken. After conducting a variety of tests, interviews, observations and subjective assessments both during and after actual cooking experiments, the problems affecting the prototype model were identified. Based on the results of these tests, modifications were made and the latest model was then subjected to a similar series of tests. Subsequently, the overall usability of the sink has been markedly improved.
