Abstract
Ten cases of dermatophytosis due to Microsporum canis in Kochi prefecture have been reported. Five cases were tinea capitis (including two cases of kerion celsi), another five cases, were tinea corporis. There were thought that nine cases were infected from cats. The latent periods were established from a few days to three months, and the latent periods of tinea capitis were longer than tinea corporis. Many cases of Microsporum canis infection showed resistance to therapies of griseofulvin and topical application of the antifungal drug.
