Abstract
An autopsy case of dermatomyositis, who died from acute progressive interstitial pneumonitis at the age of 54, is reported. Although muscle symptoms were not remarkable, she fulfilled the criteria of dermatomyositis and the autopsy revealed a slight degeneration of muscle fibers and a mild inflammatory cell infiltrarion around them. Histopathological findings of the lung were consistent with interstitial pneumonitis. It should be noted that some patients with dermatomyositis, especially with mild muscle involvement as in our case, suffer from acute interstitial pneumonitis which is often fatal.
