Since 1972 anterior decompression surgery has been performed on 14 cases of cervical myelopathy.
Anterior decompression was carried out by way of subtotal vertebrectomy and the fusion with the bone-graft.
For only one case among 14 cases, decompression laminectomy was furthermore needed. Those operation results indicated the more effective improvement of ADL.
We conclude that this procedure is more advisable for patients whose lesions are localized in the cervical spine.
