Abstract
Aseptic necrosis of the metacarpal bone was rarely reported in the past. It is called “Dietrich disease”.
On July, 1977, a 18 year old man visited our hospital for reconstruction of the thumb.
In the X-ray, we found accidentally abnormal shadow of the MP joint of the ring finger. That is a depression and widening of the metacarpal head with osteosclerotic change.
Biopsy at the MP joint shows aseptic necrosis of bone and granulation.
