Abstract
The purpose of this work is to study the secondary acetabular changes which are caused by transient unstable hips in rats. Experimental transient unstable hips could be produced by immovilizing the knee joint of young rats in extended position, according to Michelsson's method. The length of fixation period are as follows. Group I: 1 week, Group II: 2 weeks, Group III: 3 weeks, Group IV: 4 weeks. After these period, the fixation metal pins were removed. 10 weeks after removal of the pins, Group I grew to normal hips, Group II & III obtained concentric hip joints but hip dysplasia remained, and Group IV progressed to complete dislocation of the hip.
