Abstract
A follow-up study of 67 out of 84 patients with lumbar spinal canal stenosis, surgically treated in recent 5 years, was made. Wide laminectomy alone was applied to 48 cases, and in 18 cases postero-lateral fusion was combined simultaneously with wide laminectimy.
The results were as follows.
1) Clinically, good in 69%, fair in 24% and poor in 7%.
2) Improvement of the intermittent claudication was obtained in 65% of the cases.
3) Lumbago and leg-complains still remained in about half of cases.
4) Radiologically the dissected width of the lamina become narrowed by about 10mm in 5 cases, 3 years after the operation.
