Abstract
We have experienced a case of paraplesia caused by intradural hemorrhage recently. The case is of a man aged 45 who consulted a practician, on October 4th, 1978, because of low back pain. Gradually, he found disturbance of urination and gait exaggeratedly. On October 27, he became unable to walk and was transferred to Mitsubishi Nagasaki hospital. Spinal puncture showed bloody fluid and a myelogram revealed a complete block at the level of the third lumbar vertebrae region.
Total laminectory and removal of coagulated blood were performed on October 31, and 6 weeks after the operation, he could walk again with a lumbar corset, and the numbness of the lower extremities disappeared.
