Abstract
The first rib fractures are uncommon, and to our knowlege the stress fractures of the first rib has not been so much reported previously.
We report a first rib fracture caused by the continuous stress due to the heavy responsible cough.
Case report; 36 years old, female, nurse
P. I; She has gotten the cough suddenly, and so has been insomnia.
After one month she complained the back and right shoulder pain.
Left first and right seventh rib fractures were found on the X-ray. They healed without pain after six months. The cause of the cough was diagnosed as the conversion reaction by a psychosomatic physician.
