Two Cases of Osteoarthritis of the Knee in Young Adult

Abstract

Two cases of osteoarthritis of the knee were reported which appeard to occur as an advanced stage of the chondromalacia patellae. Both cases had no previous history of infection or trauma including sports injury, however, they showed severe osteoarthritic changes in the late twenties and eary thirties respectively. Most svere changes were observed in the patello-femoral joints in both cases. Therefore, we suspected that their chondromalacia patellae were followed by the significant osteoarthiritis of the knee.
Treatment consisted of anterior advancement of the tibial tubercle, shaving and drilling of the degenerated articular cartilage. Satisfactry improvement of the symptom has been obtained.
