Between 1981 and 1983, ten patients were treated surgically and conservatively for depression fracture of the tibial condyles. Six patients had acquired almost maximal recovery of knee function. In one patient with open comminuted fracture, bony union has been still delayed.
The result suggests that combination with bone grafting and rigid internal fixation, and surgical management of the associated soft tissue injuries are essential to recovery of knee function.
