Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the radiological factors which relate to the development of osteoarhritis (OA) of the hip.
For 58 hips which were not treated surgically for at least two years or more, ten radiological parameters (those are CE angle, Sharp angle, Acetabular angle, Weight-bearing articular surface, Head neck quotient, Acetabular quotient, Percentage of femoral head coverage (%FHC), proximal displacement, Lateral displacement, and weight-bearing area) were measured.
Comparing a group in which OA change increased with another group in which OA change did not increase, there was statistically significant difference in three parameters: CE angle, %FHC and proximal displacement.
It may be possible to anticipate the outcome of OA by measuring these three parameters.
