Abstract

Twenty-nine cases of unstable trochanteric fracture were treated in our hospital. Out of these 29 cases, 24 cases were treated using ordinary fixation materials like dynamic hip screw, Ender pinning and others (group A), while other 5 cases were treated by our new fixation method using or additional buttress plate (group B).
In group A, telescoping of the screw and medial displacement of the distal fragment occurred in 50 percent. In group B, anatomical reduction and stable fixation were accomplished. As to the after-treatment, all the patients could walk at 3 weeks on the average.
Our new method of operation is considered to increase the capability of early release from bed rest.
