Abstract
There are some problems in the treatment of condylar fracture of the femur, that is, the treatments of fracture displaced severely with widely comminuted fracture. In the treatment of such fractures, there are some cases hardly solved of mutually opposite items, namely, reduction and fixation of fracture and early ROM of knee joint. For the condylar fracture of the femur comminuted widely, treatments to obtain stable results shall be devised.
A total of 10 patients were employed in the study. They were divided into the coronal type in the classification according to Hohl at condylar fracture of the femur and into the II and III groups in the classification according to Neer at supracondylar fracture of the femur.
Treatment was made mainly by pin traction for a comparatively long time, followed by local fixation by multiple pinning and the cast for a short time. In addition, the devised added method of a knee brace was used.
Out of the 10 cases, 6 cases showed more than satisfactory results, and 4 cases showed unsatisfactory results. Nonetheless there was no cases which resulted in failure.
